Navigating New Realities.

In this introductory course, you will explore finance principles designed for the digital economy. You will start by understanding corporate finance fundamentals and the evolving role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a technology-driven world. You will then analyze how fintech reduces frictions and creates value, and why traditional financial statements fall short for digital firms.

The course examines investment strategies for uncertain, dynamic environments, alongside considerations of cost of capital and capital structures specific to digital companies.You will also learn how to value digital initiatives, including start-ups, and apply insights from current trends to make sound financial decisions.

Prof. Dr. Marco Bade

Marco is a Professor and Head of the Research Group "Digital Entrepreneurship & Finance" at the German University of Digital Science. He earned his doctoral degree in economics and completed a Habilitation in business administration. Before assuming his current role, Marco held several academic positions, including Associate Professor of Finance at ICN Business School and Permanent Faculty Member of the CEREFIGE research laboratory at Université de Lorraine. He also served as Interim Professor and Chair of Finance and Banking at University of Potsdam, Postdoctoral Researcher at TU Berlin, and Research Associate at the Berlin School of Economics. His research and teaching focus on entrepreneurship, finance, and strategy, with particular attention to how startups, ventures, and platforms operate within digital ecosystems, investigating how communication strategies, community and investor feedback, and environmental conditions shape entrepreneurial behavior, legitimacy, and outcomes.
